Project Management in a day

Teach and practise the basics of Project Management in a day long interactive classroom course

Aim of course  A one day course for non-PM trained staff (either in PM or non-PM roles).  Introduce concepts, raise awareness & understanding.  Delegates should leave with confidence to work with & alongside projects and use simple techniques in their current work (whatever their role)

Caution  This is not about teaching any formal approach (ie PRINCE2) or training people to be project managers.

Structure of course  The teacher introduces PM concepts in plain English then allows delegates to explore them through group discussion and project team sessions as the course guides them through the planning of a simple project onto a poster sized worksheet.  Aim for 1:10 ratio of teacher ‘lecture’ in front of class to group discussion & project team sessions.

Customisation  No slides are provided - make your own if you need to - but experience shows slides tend to detract from what you are asking the delegates to do.

Things to print

Print 1 copy A4 (9 pages) to use as your guide for the day.  There are no slides so you need this!

Use as A4 if you must; works best if this is printed on A1 or A0 laminated pages for the groups to work on together

Print 1 copy per delegate, containing a summary version of the worksheet
